ABOUT IBWU

India Baptist Women’s Union (IBWU), established in 1959, is a national fellowship of Baptist women committed to unity, spiritual growth, and service. Bringing together women from diverse regions and cultures across India, IBWU fosters faith, leadership, and community impact.

Through prayer, training, and outreach initiatives, the union empowers women to actively serve their churches and society while strengthening bonds of fellowship and purpose.

OUR STORY

India Baptist Women’s Union (IBWU) was founded in 1959 with a vision to unite Baptist women across India in faith and fellowship. In a nation rich with diversity—of language, culture, and traditions—this vision brought together women with a shared spiritual purpose.

Under the leadership of Miss Mercy Jayaraja Rao, women from various Baptist conventions gathered at Creg Memorial Baptist Church, Kakinada, and formed what is now IBWU. Over the years, the union has grown into a strong national body committed to nurturing spiritual life, promoting Christian stewardship, and strengthening unity among women.

Today, IBWU continues to organize seminars, leadership programs, and outreach initiatives, while also extending support during times of need such as natural calamities and health crises.

Welcome to our digital home. Whether you have been a part of the India Baptist Women’s Union (IBWU) for decades or are visiting us for the very first time, know that you are seen, valued, and loved.

In a world that often feels fragmented and hurried, our mission remains steadfast: to provide a sanctuary where women can grow in faith, serve with compassion, and lead with grace. We are more than just a group; we are a sisterhood grounded in the Word of God, dedicated to lifting one another up as we navigate the various seasons of life.

Our Shared Vision

Build Each Other Up (I Thessalonians 5:11)

The IBWU theme “Build Each Other Up” reminds us to encourage one another and strengthen each other in faith. This is not just a suggestion—it is our calling as a sisterhood.

Lifting the burdens: We recognize that life’s challenges are lighter when shared, and we commit to standing in the gap for one another through prayer and presence.
Celebrating the gifts: By encouraging and uplifting the unique talents God has placed in each woman, we create a beautiful tapestry of service that no one could achieve alone.
Restoring the spirit: We create spaces through prayer and fellowship, ensuring that no sister is left behind on this journey.

As we look toward the future, our theme calls us to action. When we focus on building each other up, we do more than grow an organization—we build a kingdom of love and service.
